"That's a picture of school children from the Lincoln Elementary School, the Negro school, in Ash Grove, Missouri. My father [Junior Berry] is the boy on the front row with the black stockings on, and my grandmother used to always be so embarrassed by that picture because he has a hole in his stocking and she used to say that picture made the family look like they were not respectable.
Also numbered in that picture is my uncle Millard Berry, my uncle Lawrence Berry...my cousin Dehomer Carlock and also a family friend, Lloyd Yokum as well as Delmus Carlock's sister, the girl on the far left standing...

"That's a lady who lived in this town, that's one of my relatives, and I think that her [surname] is Carlock. They called her... I'm not sure. I've heard her referred to as Faye Carlock...she was one of the Carlock ladies. Basically what I've heard her referred to as is Ms. Carlock...and she lived in Ash Grove and she was, perhaps, the mother of Delmus Carlock."
